The US House of Representatives supported the resolution, which, in particular, condemned the illegal imprisonment of Crimean residents by Russia for political reasons.

This is reported in a document published on the website of the US Congress.

The list of Russian political prisoners compiled by the Memorial human rights centre includes journalists, civil activists, human rights activists, members of peace organizations, and citizens of Ukraine from occupied Crimea.

"The House of Representatives condemns imprisonment on political grounds in Russia, which violates the country's international obligations in the field of human rights and the rule of law, and expresses its solidarity with all those illegally imprisoned by the Russian Federation", - the resolution said.

Besides, the document calls on all US representatives to raise the issue of political prisoners in negotiations with Russia, as well as - to apply "the Magnitsky Act" or other sanctions against those responsible for imprisonment for political reasons in Russia and occupied Crimea.
