Ukraine wants to introduce the position of the EU Special Representative on Crimea. And also in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine hope for a rigorous approach to Russia from the new president of the USA Joe Biden.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba stated this in an interview with the Turkish  Anadolu Agency on November 30.

"We would like the position of the EU Special Representative on Crimea to be introduced. As these crises do not even take place somewhere near Europe, they take place in Europe and deserve special attention", - Kuleba said.

Also, the Foreign Minister hopes that US President-elect Joe Biden will treat Russia quite rigorously because of its aggression against Ukraine because Biden knows the history of Ukraine and its struggle against Russian aggression during Barack Obama's vice presidency.

"He will be quite rigorous with Russia when it comes to its aggression against Ukraine. And we will have a comprehensive, result-oriented dialogue with his administration on this issue. By the way, President Biden is the first American president in history who does not need to study the Ukrainian dossier after his election, because he already knows this dossier very well", - he added.

At the same time, according to the minister, the administration of US President Donald Trump has also done a lot for Crimea, for example, adopted the Crimean Declaration of Pompeo in 2018.

What is known

  • The Crimean Declaration is a statement in the form of a statement to the press by US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, which confirms the non-recognition of Russia's occupation of the peninsula and proclaims a long-term policy of refusing to recognize its claims to territory seized by force.
