The Embassy of the United States of America calls on the Russian Federation to end the "game of legitimacy" and to end the conscription campaign in the occupied Crimea.
The relevant message of the US Embassy in Ukraine was published on Twitter.
"The Russian occupation authorities in Crimea continue to forcibly call Ukrainian citizens into the army, which is a gross violation of international humanitarian law. It is time for Russia to end the game of legitimacy, stop the conscription campaign, and leave Ukraine,” - the embassy said in a statement.
What is known
- The UN has repeatedly insisted that Russia stop calling on Crimean residents to join its armed forces. The organization calls on Moscow to abide by international law.
- The European Union has stressed the illegality of Russia's conscription of residents of the occupied Crimea.
