Belarusian Mikhail Zagortsev, who was appointed "vice-mayor" of occupied Yalta on September 22, was fired on September 25 for supporting protests in Belarus.

This was announced by the "mayor" of occupied Yalta Ivan Imgrunt on his Facebook page.

"Dear Yalta residents, based on the results of the inspection of the posted video material with the participation of Zagortsev, upon the support of the opposition of Belarus, a decision was made to dismiss the deputy head of the Yalta city administration Zagortsev Mikhail, in connection with which it excludes the possibility of his being in this position. Today I signed the relevant order", - the statement reads.

What is known

  • It became known on September 22 that Mikhail Zagortsev was appointed vice-mayor of occupied Yalta. Introducing the new "deputy", Imgrunt expressed confidence that "Zagortsev's experience will allow him to successfully cope with all the tasks set before him".
  • After the violent dispersal of peaceful protests in Belarus, Zagortsev, while receiving medical treatment, recorded a video message in which he condemned the actions of security forces against demonstrators.
