Former US State Department special envoy for Ukraine Kurt Volker noted that the United States should make it clear to Russia that sanctions will not be lifted until the aggression against Ukraine and the occupation of Crimea cease.  In addition, Volker gave some advice to American diplomats to boost the Minsk process.

He said this during a forum organized by the American Center for European Policy Analysis, the Voice of America reported.

According to Volker, the United States should appoint a special envoy for Ukraine to negotiate with Russia, coordinate with Germany and France, support Washington's policies, work with NATO and the EU, Canada, and Britain.

One of the main tasks of this post, he stressed, is to ensure the continuation of the sanctions regime against Russia.

"In this way, Russia will see that sanctions do not disappear until it allows peace in Ukraine and leaves Crimea", - Volker said.

He also noted that it is important to increase the price of Vladimir Putin's aggression against Ukraine among Russians themselves.
