Russia’s Memorial Human Rights Center has recognized four people involved in the Hizb ut-Tahrir case in Alushta - Eldar Kantimirov, Ruslan Mesutov, Ruslan Nagaev and Lenur Khalilov - as political prisoners.

This was reported on the center's website.

"Muslims were imprisoned in connection with their non-violent exercise of the right to freedom of conscience, religion and association. We demand their immediate release", - it is said in the message.

At the same time, on September 23, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova, commenting on the European Union's reaction to the Russian court's verdicts against those involved in the Bakhchisaray "Hizb ut-Tahrir case", called them "terrorists".

"The members of this organization received different terms of punishment for proven criminal offenses of terrorist orientation. Their political views, nationality and ethnicity have nothing to do with the court's verdict, as Brussels is trying to twist. This is not the first time we have seen dangerous attempts by our Western partners to divide terrorists into good and bad or moderate. The tragic consequences of such attempts are well known to the people of the EU, who have suffered the horrors of terrorist attacks", - Zakharova said.
