Denisova appointed a representative on the observance of the rights of residents of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol

Ukrainian ombudswoman Lyudmila Denisova has appointed Irina Verigina as her representative for the observance of the rights of residents of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and Sevastopol.

“Crimea Realii”, told about it in the secretariat of the ombudsman.

It is noted that Verigina took office on 8 of September.

What is known

  • On 17 of March 2014, Verigina was appointed First Deputy Head of the Luhansk Regional State Administration. From May 10 to September 16, 2014, she served as chairman.
  • In 2016, a Ukrainian court ruled to recover more than 1 million hryvnias from Russia in favour of Verigina as damages caused by Russian armed aggression and the occupation of part of Ukraine.
  • Verigina is a member of the coordinating council of the public human rights organization "All-Ukrainian Movement of the Force of Law".
