The public organization "Crimean Human Rights Group" conducted monitoring, the results of which revealed that in the Kherson region in 8 settlements only Russian television broadcasts.

Public correspondents visited the Kalanchak territorial community and saw what the residents of the border villages are watching now.

In the village of Oleksandrivka, satellite dishes are installed on some houses. Lyubov Hedz does not have it. The woman lives alone. According to her, she learns news about Ukraine from neighbours, because she has only Russian TV channels at home.

"I would like our Ukrainian channels to be shown for free for retirees like me. At least a little bit for all people to give our channels for free. Have we not earned in our lives", - Lyubov Gedz said.

The woman says that her pension is small, so she has no money for a satellite dish.

"It turns out that 500-600 UAH per month for gas, 700 UAH for electricity because I use a fireplace. They give me subsidies, but not enough for a while. I have a big house. I spend a lot of money on medicine. I live, as you can see. bread and bread", - a resident of Alexandrovka summed up.

It is noted that the administrative border with the temporarily occupied Crimea 15-20 km. 850 people live in Oleksandrivka, a third of them are pensioners, says the village head Olga Serhiychuk.

"Ukrainian channels are caught on satellites, but you have to pay about UAH 6,000 for it in half a year. Ukrainian TV channels do not catch on T2 set-top boxes", - Serhiychuk said.

Mykola Glushkov from the village of Kalanchak has Ukrainian TV channels because he bought such a set-top box 3 years ago. But he said there were communication problems.

"Sometimes the connection disappears. That's how it breaks. In the evening there may be wind. The second time, I don't know what the reason is, that the weather is good, but once it broke. After a while, it shows again", - Mykola Glushkov said.

According to the Deputy Head of the Kherson Regional State Administration Mykola Yakymenko, by the end of the year, residents of villages in the Kherson region should receive assistance from the state to connect to the Internet.

"Now, thanks to the subvention from the Ministry of Culture, which is already available in our region, the population of our region will receive, in the villages, there will be fibre networks. I think that in 2-3 months we will receive from the central government or subventions for vulnerable groups to connect to this network. We have to do it by the end of the year", - the head of the regional state administration said.

Researcher of the Crimean human rights group Iryna Sedova told Public Crimea that the Russians had installed a powerful tower on the other side of the administrative border, the signal of which covers 8 settlements of mainland Ukraine.

"This can be solved only through the intervention of the National Security and Defense Council and the Armed Forces because under the laws of peacetime this problem cannot be solved, because the Russians are connecting their Ministry of Defense", -  Irina Sedova concluded.
