In his New Year’s greeting, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stressed the reunification of Ukraine with the occupied territories of Donetsk, Luhansk, and occupied Crimea. Meanwhile, the American media continues to escalate the situation, informing about Putin’s plans to seize almost half of Ukraine.

The Sun reported a possible “almost imminent war” and published the latest map of Russia’s attack, in which Russia could “a limited strike at Ukraine in the next ten days”.

“Analysts say Putin is now almost certain to launch a limited strike in the next ten days — which could include an attack on the three-million-strong population of the Ukrainian capital”, - the statement said.

According to the newspaper, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson said, “there are 60 Russian combat groups on the borders of Ukraine” and “the plan for a lightning war that could take out Kyiv”.

“Satellite pictures showed thousands of troops and military vehicles lined up around the border as camps and field hospitals were stocked with supplies. Putin’s commanders are now waiting for a biting winter cold snap to freeze the ground solid to enable tanks to launch an offensive — as temperatures across Ukraine plunged to -8C last night”, - The Sun predicts, checking the weather forecast.

The map shows that Vladimir Putin’s troops may attack southern Ukraine from occupied Crimea.

“It’s a terrible situation. I don’t even want to imagine it. I am against it. We hope this is impossible. Otherwise, there will be a big war”, - Zelensky said in an interview with ‘Focus’ about a possible attack by Russia from Crimea.

According to the Ukrainian leader, the realistic forecast is that the probable Russian escalation will be in the territories where people have family ties with Russia.

“Russia needs a pretext: they will say that they are protecting the Russian-speaking population. After the occupation and annexation of Crimea, we understand that this is possible and can happen”, - he said.

The President of Ukraine added that this would not be just an occupation but the beginning of a large-scale war.

Akhtem Chiygoz, Deputy Speaker of the Crimean Tatar People’s Mejlis, told Suspilne Crimea about the future of occupied Crimea after a possible Russian invasion.

“What happens when you are held hostage among the population, which has not recognized the occupation and is trying to resist ... This is so annoying to the occupiers that they are ready to do anything just to take advantage of a vulnerable moment. I believe that there will be real looting, which was in 2014 when the principles of revolutionary expediency were in force. The occupying power had a freer hand. It is difficult to give the exact number of crimes, kidnappings, and murders”, - the People’s Deputy of Ukraine said.

He also added that it is difficult to imagine what the bandit group, which is called the occupying power in Crimea, is capable of.

In the occupied Southern Military District of the Russian Federation, which includes occupied Crimea, a check of the readiness of units and military units has begun. Over 6,000 Russian troops are involved in the inspection.

“In fact, all these inspections took place before. What they are doing now is definitely preparation for hostilities. There is no need to have unnecessary illusions that they are just “playing”. It is necessary to look at it through the prism of preparation for participation in the offensive operation”, - Mykhailo Honchar, an expert on national security, stressed.

Akhtem Chiygoz noted that it was clear that Russia captured Crimea not to make it an attractive territory for tourists.

“From the first day of the capture of the Russian Federation, it made a special zone out of it and blackmailed the whole of Europe. We know that there had already been attacks on Syria from the territory of Crimea. We know that a huge part of the Black Sea has been captured, and they have taken the Sea of Azov under control. It is a real utopia to hope that there will be no aggression from Crimea towards the mainland of Ukraine. We need to take steps that will show society the confidence - that the authorities are really working to solve problems. I think that this is a very dangerous situation, and now I am trying to get through to the authorities”, - the head of the Bakhchisaray Regional Mejlis said.

He also drew attention to the fact that the inner circle of the President of Ukraine includes people who have close relations with the enemy.

“I do not rule out the possibility that Putin and his gang, at the expense of Zelensky’s government, are trying to maintain their influence in Ukraine, continuing to put pressure on factors that are unpleasant for our country”, - Akhtem Chiygoz said.

According to the inspection plan, several formations and military units began marching in a combined manner to all-military training grounds located at a considerable distance from the permanent deployment points to perform training and combat missions.

Mykhailo Honchar stressed what sanctions could be imposed in case of aggravation of the situation with Russia.

“I don’t advise you to wait for a quick de-occupation. The occupier will be subject to harsh sanctions. It may also happen that ships with Russian port registration and carrying out activities in occupied Crimea will be prohibited from entering the EU countries. They can change the flag, but the port registration remains the same", - the expert said.
