Oleksiy Chernobay is a soldier who has not been able to enter his homeland for 8 years. Originally from the Crimea, he grew up in Simferopol. In 2011 he moved to Kyiv, now - Colonel of the Armed Forces. He remembers wanting to be in the military since childhood. Oleksiy said that it was impossible for a soldier to go home and hug his relatives - a pain that hardens and inspires to do everything to liberate Ukrainian territories from the Russian presence.

Oleksiy's dream is to have Ukrainian servicemen on the borders of Ukraine. For the Day of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksiy wished his brothers - strength, patience and faith. And for Ukrainians - to be invisible wings that support their defenders.

"Crimea is a story of pain and loss. My mother always taught me that in order to get something, you need to work constantly and be able to stand up for yourself. When Crimea was taken away from me, the most expensive thing was taken away - the Motherland. I understand that I have not been able to see my relatives for about 8 years. This pain hardens me to work for the cause that helps to protect the country", - Oleksiy told Suspilne Crimea.

Since childhood, the future colonel of the Armed Forces was very fond of weapons. He had many magazines and books. This later became his life's work.

"I had such a crucial stage when I was a gunsmith in my specialty, but there were no relevant positions during the division. When he served and did not hold a position in his profession, he began to actively develop in such areas as public relations. The development of information technology has allowed to try itself in the information channel. I passed the competition and I was hired to work in the press service. I started shooting, taking photos, writing texts - I really liked it. I took this very seriously. And at the time when I began to actively develop myself in this, I was offered to lead the armaments service in one of the military units. I refused. I was told that this was my chance, but I liked journalism", - Oleksiy Chernobay shared his recollections.

In 2014, Oleksiy joined the National Guard of Ukraine, and at the end of the same year, he joined the Armed Forces.

The Minister of Defense, Stepan Poltorak, praised and trusted me. He offered to be his assistant.

“In 2014, there was no question of organizing interaction with the media and adequately responding to their appeals. It was difficult to build mechanisms for journalists working in the East. But we did this powerful work, because thanks to journalists, we managed to prove to the whole world that the country is not an internal conflict, but a war between Ukraine and Russia", - the military stressed.

There were times when up to 40 film crews worked on the territory of the Environmental Protection Agency at the same time. Much effort has been made to ensure that journalists can easily reach hotspots. Thanks to domestic journalists, the world began to learn more and more about Ukraine.

"2014 was the most motivating year. When Russia annexed Crimea and carried out an armed aggression in the Donbas, society began to consolidate actively. Citizens of Ukraine, volunteers, journalists - united for a common goal. I felt such tremendous support. It seems as if the entire Ukrainian people rose up and clung to their homeland. Most of my friends turned away from me. Some said I was helping to destroy the people. I do not hold evil, because the fog of propaganda has already disappeared and most have changed their views. A person always has a chance to recover. There are no excuses only if a person deliberately takes up arms and goes to war against Ukraine", - Oleksiy Chernobay said.

The defender shared with the Suspilne Crimea, which has recently become a father, but does not stop dreaming about the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

"She can't move forward right now because she has wounds that are hard to heal for a long time. The issue of Crimea is more global and it will not be easy to bring it back. I still dream of getting in the car with my family and going to the Crimea, where my parents are waiting for me. I want to come to the Crimea as a winner. Like the man who did everything to restore the territorial integrity of his state", - Oleksiy Chernobay said.
